2019: new card designs. I’ve been experimenting with gouache and different ways of applying gold. I’ve tried artists’ metal leaf applied and also gilding wax. Finally in September I spent a day with an experienced professional gilder and then produced some cards that have real 23 carat gold leaf on them. It is extremely difficult to control but the results are mouth-watering....

BELOW: I developed a drawn image using the outline of hammerhead sharks & superimposed it on itself using the Brushes app on my iPad. The result was an intriguing effect which I printed out and used as the basis for square paintings that look like stained glass windows. I used these for Christmas cards.

RIGHT: Our 2017 Christmas card. I experimented with different blues (water colour) and added gouache gold paint to give the celestial feel...
